Born September 27, 1982, better known as Lil Wayne is an American rapper. As part of the Hot Boys, he is a member of the Cash Money Records label. He worked with rapper BG on the True Story album, after which he was signed to the label. Released in 1997, Get It How U Live was Wayne's first release with the Hot Boys; he made his solo debut in 1999 with the release of Tha Block is Hot. The album debuted at the top ten on the Billboard 200, and Wayne himself was nominated for Best Young Artist of the Year by The Source magazine. Shortly after his success, Wayne took part in the recording of joint singles with rappers such as BG (Bling Bling) and Big Tymers (# 1 Stunna) in 2000.
