In 1991 in Charlottesville, vocalist and guitarist (but at that time a regular bartender) Dave Matthews decided to record some songs on cassette. Having met the saxophonist Leeroy Moore and drummer Carter, quite famous in Charlottesville, Dave had the idea to create a group, which was soon supplemented by 16-year-old bassist Stefan Lessard, keyboardist Peter Grisard and violinist Boyd Tinsley.
The Dave Matthews Band's first performances in local clubs in Charlottesville were a huge success. And soon they performed for the first time in front of a large audience at the popular Earth Day festival. Success followed on the heels of the guys. Rumors about their talent and creativity quickly spread throughout the country. Inspired by their success, in 2003 the musicians released their first album, entitled “Remember Two Things”. Peaking at the top of the student charts, the record secured artists with the tutelage of influential RCA Records.
By embarking on their tour, the band has established a successful tradition of recording their performances, thus allowing all their fans to watch the Dave Matthews Band online.
In September 1994, the guys began work on their new album "Under The Table and Dreaming", which was destined to go four times platinum. And in April 1996 their new album "Crush" was released, which immediately took second place in the Billboard 200. Subsequent albums by Dave Matthews Band were equally popular.
In addition to stunning albums and studio albums, the group actively and successfully toured Europe and America, collecting thousands of stadiums.
In 2008 a grief happened - Leroy Moore died in an accident. This certainly affected the guys, but they continued their creativity, releasing in 2009 an album called Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, which held the first positions of the Billboard 200 chart 5 times in a row. And in 20012, their album Away from the World broke the record of the Metallica group, because it became 6 times in a row at first place on the chart.
It should also be noted that between 1996 and 2010 the band received 14 Grammy nominations (and even won one), as well as 4 My VH1 Music Awards.
How many years Dave Matthews Band will delight us on stage, no one can say for sure, but there are hopes that the musicians' creativity will only flourish in new angles.
