Tenacious D - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips.
Tenacious D is a California-based rock music band performing satirical music. The group includes renowned musicians and actors: Jack Black, performing rhythm guitar and vocals, and Kyle Gass, lead guitarist and backing vocalist.
The band was founded in 1994, when the musicians performed as an acoustic duet at concerts. However, it was only five years later that the band's popularity first caught up with Jack and Kyle starring in the TV series Tenacious D. During the series, the musicians supported major metal and rock concerts.
Two more years passed, and in 2001 the debut full-length album of the same name with the name of the group was released. It is worth noting that the first song "Tribute" is the most significant achievement of the band, as this single reached the top 10 in many popular charts.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass, as part of the group, starred in a comedy musical. It was a movie with Tenacious D - Tenacious D: The Destiny Pick. After the success of the picture, the musicians went on a world tour.
Jack and Kyle met back in 1989 at the Edinburgh Arts Festival, being members of a theater group. At first, there were tensions between them, however, having figured out each other, it was decided to form their own group. Kyle taught Jack how to play the guitar, and Jack, in turn, helped Kyle with acting.
The name of the group was invented in 1994 at one of the concerts, when the musicians left the audience to choose a suitable name from the list. The choice was settled on Tenacious D, which means "strong d". This was one of the favorite expressions of sports commentator M. Albert, which characterized the powerful defense in basketball with positioning.
The group owes its success, first of all, to the bright stage presentation of Jack Black's vocals, as well as to Gass's good musical skills. Some critics, in order to somehow characterize the musical style of the group, called it "mock-rock".
You can listen to Tenacious D online right now on the Internet and get a good portion of humor and good mood.
