An English neo-psychedelic band founded in 1990 in Rugby, Warwickshire by Jason Pierce (often referred to as J. Spaceman) following the breakup of his previous space rock group Spacemen 3. Spiritualized's lineup has changed from album to album, with the only permanent member being Pierce, who wrote, composed and sang all of the band's compositions. Spiritualized have released six studio albums. The most famous of these was released in 1997: Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space. The famous English magazine New Musical Express recognized this disc as the album of the year.
