Born 1970 in Sydney, Australia.
Initially she studied law, but later changed her specialization. Julia Lee has worked for the Australian Authors Society, mentoring Frank Moorehouse and Toni Morrison.
Julia is the author of the critically acclaimed novels The Hunter and The Worry. The Hunter was filmed in 2011, starring Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill.
She made her film debut as a director and screenwriter for The Sleeping Beauty (2011) with Emily Browning in the title role. This film took part in the main competition of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival.
