Honored Artist of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (1956) .
He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University, worked at the Horatsky and National Theaters in Prague.
Since 1951 he directed the drama troupe of the National Theater.
In 1947 he first appeared in a movie (cameo - "Nobody knows anything"). He also acted as a screenwriter.
His name is associated with the renewal of the director's language of the 60-70s in the USSR. Kreich was the first foreign director to be awarded the Stanislavsky Prize.
