Bruno Podalides - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Actor, Director, Writer, Producer, Editor, Operator.

Born March 11, 1961, Boulogne-Billancourt, Haut-de-Seine, France - French actor, director and screenwriter.

Bruno Podalides' directorial career began with the creation of corporate videos for Air France, starring his brother Denis. In 1992 he directed the short film Versailles: Left Bank, which won a number of awards - the Audience Award and the Jury Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand Festival, the Jury Prize at the Chamrousse Festival and Cesar for Best Short Film.

In 1994, Podalides presented his next work, the feature film Voila, which was warmly received at the Venice Film Festival. Two years later, he directed the tender and mocking romantic comedy Only God Sees Me, a story about a weak-tempered and indecisive young man (Denis Podalides), who is literally torn to pieces by three active and enterprising women (Isabelle Candelieu, Cecile Buyot and Jeanne Balibar) ...

Bruno Podalides' paintings were clearly influenced by directors such as Howard Hawks and Alain Rene, whose films he loved as a child, during his pharmacist father's Sunday film screenings. The style of his light, "airy" films is somewhat reminiscent of the famous comics about the adventures of Tintin - an inquisitive newspaper reporter who travels the world and constantly gets into incredible stories.

Bruno Podalides wrote all the scripts for his pictures himself, and he invariably trusted his younger brother Denis to play the main role. The comedy "Svoboda-Oleron" (2001), which tells about a crazy trip of one family along the rivers of France on a yacht, was no exception.

In 2002, the director directed the crime drama The Secret of the Yellow Room, based on the classic police novel by Gaston Leroux. The role of detective Joseph Josephine, nicknamed Rouletabille ("ball, bun") was played by his brother Denis Podalides. Sabin Azema, Pierre Arditi, Jean-Noel Brute, Olivier Gourmet, Mikael Lonsdal also took part in the film.

In 2006, Podalides took part in the creation of the film almanac Paris, I Love You, filming an episode about Montmartre, and in 2009 completed the Versailles trilogy with Once Upon a Time in Versailles, which brought together a brilliant cast. In addition to the unchanging Denis Podalides, it stars such stars as Catherine Deneuve, Mathieu Amalric and Pierre Arditi.
