Kangana Ranaut - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, Actress, Director, Writer, Producer.
Born March 23, 1987, Mandi District, India - Indian actress, starring mainly in Hindi films. She did not follow the patterns expected of her and experimented with fashion from an early age, often combining accessories and clothing that seemed "eccentric" to her neighbors. Kangana attended DAV School in Chandigarh City, taking science as her main subject, noting that she was "very diligent" and "was always paranoid about grades." She originally intended to become a doctor at the urging of her parents. However, a failed single chemistry test during her twelfth grade forced her to rethink her career prospects and, despite preparing for the All India Preliminary Medical Test, she did not take the exam. Determined to find her "place and freedom", she moved to Delhi at the age of sixteen. Her decision not to continue her studies led to a constant feud with her parents. After moving to Delhi, she was not sure which career to choose; at this time, the Elite Modeling Agency, impressed by her appearance, invited her to become their model. She accepted several modeling suggestions, but was generally unhappy as she found she “had no room for creativity.” Kangana decided to focus on acting and joined the Asmita Theater, where she trained under theater director Arvind Gaura. In 2004, producers Ramesh Sharma and Pahlaj Nilani announced that Kangana would debut in Deepak Shivdasani's film I Love You Boss. The following year, an agent took her to the office of producer and director Mahesh Bhatt, where she met with producer Anurag Basu and auditioned for the lead role in the film Gangster. The film was a critical and commercial success, and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress.
In 2007, the drama Life in the City was released, in which she played Neha, a cunning call center employee who is having an affair with her married boss. Despite a flop at the box office, the film proved to be a profitable venture. In 2008, Kangana made her Collywood debut in the film Dhaam Dhoom. Production on the film was temporarily suspended when the director died of a heart attack, but the film crew finished filming it. In the same year, she played drug-addicted supermodel Shonali Gujral in Captured by Fashion, starring Priyanka Chopra. The film became a "landmark" in her career, received commercial success and earned her several film awards in the category "Best Supporting Actress" .
In 2013, she starred in Shooting in Wadal, starring John Abraham. Director Sanjay Gupta suggested the role of Kangane because of her ability to stand out in a male-only film, as her character Vidya Joshi was the only female central in the script. The film was a commercial success. At the end of the same year, the movie "Krrish 3" was released, where her character Kaia is a transforming mutant and henchman of the main villain. In 2014, the movie "The Queen" (or "Opening the World") was released, which became the main film in her career, where she acted not only as an actress, but also as an author of dialogues. The film tells the story of Rani, a naive girl who is embarking on her honeymoon when her fiance cancels their wedding. According to Kangana, this role was one of the most difficult, as the character traits contrasted with her own. Kangana's film and performance has received many critical accolades. The actress has also won several Best Actress awards including Filmfare and the National Film Awards.
In 2017, after a year's hiatus, the film Rangoon was released, in which she played Julia, an actress and stuntwoman of Bollywood in the 1940s. This character was based on a real-life actress - Fearless Nadia. For filming, she traveled to New York to study the character's biography, and then headed to an island in Mexico to study solo survival. However, the film did not resonate with the audience. In the same year, two projects will be released: the film Simran, in which she plays a Gujarati immigrant who was involved in criminal activities in America, and Manikarnika — The Queen of Jhansi, a biopic about Queen Jhansi.
