Born November 9, 1955, Sao Paulo is a Brazilian film director.
The son of a gastroenterologist who traveled extensively with his family in Asia and North America. At the age of 12 he received a movie camera as a gift. He graduated from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of the University of Sao Paulo, as a diploma presented a documentary filmed in Japan. Subsequently, he worked in television, filmed commercials. In the early 1980s, he organized an independent film company with friends, and became one of the largest advertising producers in the country. Filmed television series, short films. His first full-length film was City of God, which brought the director worldwide fame.
