Born Harry Stevenson Garaway on April 16, 1871, he was educated in England and began acting at the age of twenty. He made his Broadway debut in 1901. Stevenson has appeared in several silent films, but has also left his mark on the radio station since 1932. In total, he appeared in 90 films from 1917 to 1951, often with Errol Flynn.
He married actress Anne Shoemaker. They have one daughter.
