Born May 19, 1969 in Copenhagen. At the age of nineteen, Winterberg entered the Danish National Film School, which he successfully graduated in 1993. His graduation project, the short film The Last Round, wins the Producers' and Jury's Prize at the Munich International Student Film Festival, as well as first prize at the Tel Aviv Festival.
