September 9, 1905 Boston - July 31, 1987 Greenwich, Connecticut - American film producer.
In the late 1940s. founded an independent studio, the Embassy Pictures Corporation, which initially specialized mainly in the re-release of foreign films in the United States. The first major success of the company and Levin himself was the release in 1956 of a significantly modified and expanded version of the Japanese film "Godzilla" .
Later Levine produced a number of famous American films, including Martin Ritt's Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965), Richard Attenborough's Magic (1981), and others.
In the mid-1960s, he had a short-lived affair with Hollywood star Carroll Baker.
