October 15, 1881 - February 14, 1975 - popular English writer, playwright, comedian.
Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE). Wodehouse's works, primarily in the humorous genre, have enjoyed unchanging success since 1915; Many famous authors, including Rudyard Kipling and George Orwell, gave high marks to his work. The most famous cycle of Wodehouse's novels about the young British aristocrat Bertie Wooster and his resourceful valet Jeeves; The British television series Jeeves and Worcester (1990-1993), starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, largely contributed to this popularity. Woodhouse is the author of 15 plays and about 30 musical comedies. Woodhouse is the author of the lyrics for popular songs, in particular those included in the Gershwin-Romberg musical Rosalie (1928).
