Australian alternative rock band. Initially the band appeared under the name "Innocent Criminals", in 1992 in Newcastle, unchanged since then: vocalist and guitarist Daniel Jones, bassist Chris Yonnau and drummer Ben Gillies. In September 1994, the band changed their name to Silverchair; the title was taken from the title of the Nirvana songs "Sliver" and the track from the band You Am I "Berlin Chair".
