Born September 7, 1974 and raised in Los Angeles, he met his high school friend and future co-screenwriter Roberto Orsi. Studied at Wesleyan University. Married to producer Samantha Conter.
In 2011, Forbes magazine described Orsi and Kurtzman as "Hollywood's Secret Weapons," which together "are the hidden force behind $ 3 billion at the box office." He and Orsi work frequently with J.J. Abrams and Michael Bay on their projects.
Kurtzman, along with Abrams and Orsi, created the science fiction series The Edge. He currently serves as a consultant producer on the show.
