Born April 26, 1977, Valladolid, Castile and Leon is a Spanish director, screenwriter, producer and 3D / 2D animator.

Since childhood he was fond of animation and technology. When he got his first personal computer Amstrad CPC 6128, he began to create video games on it. In 1995, he began studying information technology at the university, focusing on computer graphics and computational geometry. Started creating small graphics engines for rendering 3D geometry, which allowed him to understand how programs such as Maya, 3D Studio Max and Softimage work. During his studies at the university he was a member of the Artek group, engaged in the development of computer graphics. Created the first short films Toy Jistory and Starship Trappers with the TrueSpace and LightWave 3D graphics packages.

In May 1999, Gato joined Pyro Studios as a character animator for the Heart of Stone project. Also created a number of screensavers for the game. But in early 2000, the project was canceled, and Gato left the company. In April 2000, he joined a small video game company, Virtual Toys. Started working as a CTO, developing various tools to speed up animation tasks. Gato retired from the company in August 2001 and decided to finish the short film Bicho. While working on the film, he received an offer from Pyro Studios to work in the cinematics department. Gato joined the company in November 2001 and was tasked with developing a number of cutscenes for the Praetorians and Commandos games.

In 2003, Gato got the opportunity to create content for La Fiesta and left Pyro Studios. Gato invented the character Ted Jones, which he used to create the short film in November 2004. Ted Jones won the 2006 Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film, as well as several other national and international awards. In 2007, the sequel to Ted Jones and the Cursed Dungeon was released, which also won the Goya Award for Best Animated Short Film and several other awards.

In 2012, the first full-length film about the adventures of Ted Jones was released - "Ted Jones and the Lost City", for which Enrique Gato received the Goya Award for Best Directorial Debut. In 2015, the director's second film, Lunar Flag, was released, which also won a number of awards.
