The once popular Europe group was "born" in Sweden. Surprisingly, this Scandinavian country with a population of less than ten million has given the world so many popular music artists that it can rival such English-speaking "monsters" as the UK and the USA. One of these, of course, is Rolf Magnus Joakim Larsson, better known to music lovers under the name Joey Tempest. It was he, together with guitarist John Norum, who founded Europe and became the author of the imperishable hit The Final Countdown. In the 80s this song became wildly popular all over the world, including in the Soviet Union. And now she is a frequent guest at various radio stations, and not only those specializing in retro.

And it all began in 1979. The two aforementioned musicians decided to found a band. A new brainchild called Force slowly began to gain popularity in musical circles, but no one really thought about more. But she helped out ... the girl Tempesta, who first forced to record one of the songs, and then personally sent it to the competition of young talents. This is how the breakthrough happened. The musicians took the first prize, and with it the right to record the album. The first release was released in 1983 under the name Europe, and with it the group changed its name, becoming named after the album. But the first shot was blank - the album did not become popular, only one of the songs became a hit in faraway Japan, which opened the band a tour to the Land of the Rising Sun. The second "opus", released a year later under the name Wings of tomorrow, has already brought much greater "dividends" to the musicians, becoming a kind of springboard to world fame. And the third, which took two years to create, has become the hallmark of Europe. The album The Final Countdown with the hit of the same name broke sales records, making the group popular all over the world. It is surprising that this song was even played on Soviet television, and our residents could also watch Europe. However, as is often the case, falling glory becomes a test, and not everyone can handle it. And so it happened. One of the founders of the group, John Norum, was the first to leave the group due to, it seems, creative differences. But there is also a version that Norum opposed the commercialization of the group and, most likely, the distribution of income, which is more plausible. On the wave of success, "the squad did not notice the loss of a soldier" and recorded another album Out of this World. But this was the last success of the group. After the last failed album in 1991, the band quietly split up.

However, people have a desire for rebirth. Not reaching even close fame, after eight years Tempest decided to make an attempt to revive the once successful project. After performing in Stockholm in early 1999, the musicians announced a full reunion in 2003. We must pay tribute, they kept their word. Returned to the group and John Norum. Since then, the group has not split up. The musicians continue to release albums, only, at the moment, none of the tracks can surpass the hits of youth in popularity. Europe 2015 toured the world a lot, but at all concerts the chords of the unforgettable hit The Final Countdown are invariably heard.
