Paul Maar is a well-known and now very popular playwright, writer, illustrator and translator from Germany. A boy was born in the town of Schweinfurt. His mother died when he was still young, and Paul had to move to his grandparents in the city of Teres (northern Bavaria). The writer's training began at the Schweinfurt Gymnasium, after which he entered the Stuttgart Academy of Arts. In Franconia, he began his career as an interior designer with furnishings design and stage photography in the theater at the Masbach Castle.

Upon completion of this work, Paul Maar began teaching art history. He has been doing this for over ten years. After gaining life experience and having determined the priorities, the writer begins his activity within the framework of children's drama. The author gave his creations to the world, and most of all he is remembered by the character named Subotic. He is called the second Carlson, and he was remembered by his audience for his incessant sparkling humor, kindness and the ability to realize dreams in reality. All stories about this fabulous creature were translated into Russian. The series about Subotic consists of the following books: Saturday is not a day; Kitbus, or new freckles for Subotik; The machine for the fulfillment of desires, or Saturday returns on Saturday; New drops for Subotic; Subotic in Danger and New Freckles for Subotic. All stories about him are filled with genuine joy: a little hero with a pig's nose is trying to change the world around him. To do this, he chooses his "father" - Mr. Butylkin, who is afraid of everyone and everything. In a series of books about Subotica it is told, how the chosen dad changes for the better.
