Yuri Sergeevich Lavrov was born on March 14, 1905 in Leningrad, Russian Empire. His father was the director of the gymnasium of the Imperial Humanitarian Society, which is why he treated his son's hobbies with bias, dreaming that he, young Yuri Lavrov, would grow up as some kind of official. However, his wishes were not destined to come true. From an early age, Yuri shows love for the theater, visiting it several times a month with his parents, who were forced to go out and communicate with the intelligentsia to promote his father's work. Yuri's mother strongly supported and secretly sent him to the drama club while he was studying at his father's gymnasium.

After the events of the 1917 revolution, Yuri's father immigrated to Belgrade, where he remained until his death in 1944. Yuri himself and his mother stayed in Leningrad, where he entered the School of Fine Arts at the Bolshoi Drama Theater, after which he got a job as an ordinary actor. The roles of Yuri Lavrov were initially very noticeable and difficult, which made him work hard and improve his skills. For almost ten years, he changed several theaters, but, having moved to Kiev, he stopped at the Lesya Ukrainka National Academic Theater of Russian Drama, where he played until the end of his days. The first appearance in front of the movie camera took place during a period of a slight crisis, when Yuri resigned from another theater and did not know where to go. Yuri Lavrov died on August 20, 1980 from a long illness.
