Born on August 24, 1901 in St. Petersburg.
A pupil of the Factory of an Eccentric Actor, one of the first honored artists of the RSFSR, a leading actor in silent films.
In 1926 he graduated from the FEKS film workshop and the Institute of Arts in Leningrad.
In 1938-1941 he was an actor of the Leningrad Youth Theater. Since 1942 - an actor in the Siege Theater (then - Drama Theater named after V.F. Komissarzhevskaya) .
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1935) .
He was married to actress Janina Zheimo.
Passed away on February 28, 1973. The actor was buried at the Northern Cemetery in Leningrad.
