Was born on April 1, 1901.
As a child, he worked as an assistant projectionist, drew advertising posters for films, served as a choir in an opera house, where he also did decoration. Graduated from art school in Petrograd. He worked as an illustrator for the publishing houses "Rainbow" and "Young Guard". In 1933-1941. worked as an animator, then - as a director at the Leningrad film factory "Rosfilm" (then - to / s "Lenfilm"). Taught animation courses at Lenfilm. From 1942 he worked at Soyuzmultfilm. He was a member of the department of courses for animators of the 1940s, was a member of the artistic council.
