Was born on January 4 (17), 1905 in Kharkov. He began his stage activity in 1924 at the Kharkov Theater of Working Youth. In 1927 he graduated from the drama studio at the Kharkov theater "Berezil". In 1932 he graduated from the Kharkov Theater School. In 1929-1934 - actor of the Kharkov Ukrainian Drama Theater named after T.G. Shevchenko. Since 1949, he has been teaching at the Kharkov Theater Institute (now the Institute of Arts). Professor (1952). He acted in films. People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1953), People's Artist of the USSR (1960). He passed away on December 22, 1977 in Kharkov.
