Taylor Kitsch was born in Kelowna, British Columbia. He has two older brothers and two younger half-sisters. Since childhood, he wanted to become a professional hockey player, played in the Langley Hornets in the Canadian BCHL. After a knee injury, he ended his hockey career.
In 2002 he moved to New York. Two years later, he signed a contract with a production company, Untitled Entertainment, where he worked as a model.
