Born on August 14, 1964 in Uzbekistan, where his family was evacuated during the war. Only in 1970 did the Finkelsteins return to Leningrad. The first profession he inherited from his grandfather and uncle was the profession of a butcher, mastered by Vadim at the age of 14. Until the age of 20, Finkelstein mastered the profession of a counter worker, gradually moving from an ordinary chopper, cutting up to a ton of meat a day, to the head of a section of five departments. As soon as the cooperative movement began, Vadim wanted freedom. At 21, he founded the Aromat cooperative, which was involved in the fruit and vegetable trade and included 15 stalls and 3 trucks. Then an Uzbek restaurant was added to this farm, and a little later - wholesale trade in meat.
