Was born on April 27, 1951 in Chelyabinsk.
He was engaged in photography, as a photojournalist he collaborated with regional newspapers.
Since 1971, after serving in the army, he worked as a cameraman at the Chelyabinsk television studio.
In 1976 he entered the studio of directing a documentary film of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (master prof. LN Derbysheva).
Educational short films: "Living Water" (2 parts, 1977), "Master Kosmatov" (3 parts, 1978), "Melting" (part 1, wide screen, 1979), "Visit to a Happy Man" (diploma, 4 parts, 1981).
From 1981 to 1987 - director of the Leningrad Documentary Film Studio.
10 short films, incl. “The man who stands in front of me”, “It's time for you”, “How he became a water engineer”, “And all over again”, “Art festivals”; 25 issues of newsreels.
Since 1987 he has been working on his own projects at the country's film studios.
1995 - 2002 - Director of the series of television programs "Author's Notebook", "Forbidden Topics", "Admiralty Hour" in St. Petersburg. Author of the novel-biography "Vladimir Vysotsky" ("Olympus", Moscow, 1998).
