Born July 16, 1970, Bangkok, Thailand Apichatpong "Joe" Weerasethakul - independent Thai director, screenwriter and producer.
His painting "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives" won the Palme d'Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, and "Tropical Disease" ("Sud pralad") received a special jury prize in 2004. Syndromes and the Century (Sang sattawat, 2006) was nominated for the Venice Film Festival.
