Born May 30, 1969, Nara is a Japanese screenwriter and director.
Parents separated when Naomi was a child. Raised by my grandmother. Graduated from the Osaka School of Photography (1989). Lives in Nara, participates in the social and cultural life of this ancient city.
She makes both documentary and fiction films, adding to both the strongest autobiographical elements, including direct filming of the death of her grandmother who raised her, her own childbirth, etc. At the same time, her films are completely devoid of pathos in the European sense of the word: it is always minimalist, extremely quiet movie.
The documentaries about the director were shot by Vincent Dieutre (fr.) Russian. (2004) and Leticia Mikles (2008).
