Ukrainian Soviet actor and film and theater director, theater teacher. One of the founders of the Ukrainian theater and cinema of the XX century. People's Artist of the USSR (1944).
Born March 14, 1891 in Lvov. The son of a Lviv railway worker and a laundress. He worked as a laborer, bricklayer, painter, musician. As a fifteen-year-old boy, he stepped onto the professional stage. The last of the nine children of a poor family, de only he and his older sister Olga survived, Bronek from childhood showed aptitude for music (self-taught violinist), had a wonderful vocal voice (sang operatic parts) and expressively copied passers-by, friends, teachers. In 1922 he took part in the formation of the Berezil Theater (since 1933 - the Taras Shevchenko Kharkov Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater), where he worked until 1936. In 1936 he was one of the organizers of the Kiev Theater. Ivana Franko, an actor of this theater. 1945-1948 - Artistic Director of the Kiev Film Studio. He died on January 6, 1957 in Kiev as a result of a long and severe Parkinson's disease. The actor was buried at the Baikovo cemetery in Kiev (plot number 2).
