Born December 7, 1929 in Moscow.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1972) .
In 1946 he graduated from the Moscow Art School, studied at the courses of animators at the Soyuzmultfilm film studio. Then he worked as an animator. In 1954 he made his debut as a director of one of the first puppet films of the three-dimensional and puppet animation workshop, newly organized at Soyuzmultfilm. In subsequent years, he collaborated with the director E. Raikovsky, since 1963 he worked independently. In 1960 he graduated from the graphics department of the Moscow Polygraphic Institute. Filmed drawn, less often - puppet and combined films. Repeatedly went to technological experiments (the first Soviet wide-screen cartoon - "Murzilka on a Sputnik", the first application of electrography in Soviet animation in the film "The Kid and Carlson", combined filming of cameraman Jan Topper in "The Nutcracker", video combination of an actor with hand-drawn scenery in "Assoli" ). He constantly collaborated with the artist A. Savchenko and occasionally with other artists (V. Nikitin, P. Repkin, G. Novozhilov, Y. Butyrin, etc.). In 1982 he worked in the creative association "Screen". He was a member of the artistic council "Soyuzmultfilm", in 1972-1982. - Vice President of ASIFA. In 1979-1983 - artistic director of the multtelefilm film studio. Together with A. Savchenko and independently designed children's books and filmstrips.
He died on May 21, 1983 in Moscow.
