Raisa Prokofievna Udovikova was born in 1934 near Kursk. The girl's childhood was spent in a gypsy camp. After the Second World War, Raisa began attending a factory apprenticeship school. Then she got a job at the plant, at the same time she took part in amateur performances. In 1953, an event happened that changed the girl's further life - she was accepted into the troupe of the "Romen" theater and moved to Moscow. On its stage, the roles of Raisa Udovikova were played in the productions of the Dancer, The Girl from the Camp, Ninucci. In the early 1960s, Raisa also began her singing career. She recorded the first records on which she performed both gypsy songs and Russian romances.
Udovikova's film debut took place in 1962 - she played the role of a gypsy singer in the film Bey the Drum. The episode with the actress was so small that her name was not even mentioned in the credits. In 1964, the film-play The King of Clubs was shot, in which Raisa embodied the image of Gali. A year later, another film was released with Raisa Udovikova - Chernushka.
In 1966, a Norwegian journalist proposed to the actress. Udovikova got married and moved first to Sweden and then to Norway. Soon she went to work at the Norwegian Drama Theater and became one of the leading actresses in it. In the 1970s, Raisa performed at the famous Parisian restaurants Tsarevich and Rasputin. In 1994, she again appeared on Russian screens - the actress starred in the film Budulay, who is not expected.
Currently, Raisa Udovikova sings songs in Gypsy, Norwegian and Russian, tours a lot in cities in Europe, America and Asia. Since 1998, she has also organized the Gypsy Art Festival held annually in Norway.
