Born February 25, 1937, Kingston upon Hull, England, UK, full name Thomas Daniel Courtney is a British actor who became famous in the early 1960s for his roles in films such as The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962) , "Billy the Liar" (1963) and "Doctor Zhivago" (1965). Since the mid-1960s, he is better known for his work in the theater. In 1999 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Hull, and in February 2001 he was awarded the title of knight for his forty years of work in theater and film. Tom Courtney is also President of the Hull City Football Fan Club.
