Son of the famous film director, People's Artist of Ukraine Viktor Ivchenko (1912-1972) .
In 1966 he graduated from the film faculty of I.K. Karpenko-Kary (1966, workshop of Viktor Ivchenko).
In 1966-1990, he was a director of the Kiev Film Studio named after A.P. Dovzhenko.
He was buried in Kiev at the Baikovo cemetery next to his father's grave.
