Born in 1962, Hong Kong is a British filmmaker making films and television series.

Koki has a younger sister, Melanie (Melanie Clare Sophie Gidroych, born 1968) is an English TV presenter, journalist, actress, and writer. Their father, Michal Gidroych, comes from the famous Polish-Lithuanian aristocratic family Gidroyczew, who moved to Great Britain in 1947. The sisters grew up in Leatherhead, Surrey, received a good education: Koki graduated from the University of Bristol, where she began making films; and Melanie is Trinity College, Cambridge.
