Galina Yablonskaya was born on January 2, 1928 in Uman, which is located in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine. The future actress grew up in an acting family. Her stepfather was an actor and director, and her mother was an actress. The girl's name since childhood was Galina Efimovna Sidenko.
Galina Gilyarovna played her first role at the age of six in the theater where her parents worked. It was the Theater of Russian Drama in the city of Vinnitsa. When the occupation of Ukraine by Hitler's adherents began, Galina Gilyarovna and her friend got on a train bound for Germany.
