Born December 6, 1950, Nagano, real name: Mamoru Fujisawa - Japanese composers, director and screenwriter.

"Joe Hisaishi" is a pseudonym phonetically imitating the name of the American composer Quincy Jones.

Hisaishi began to study music at the age of five, taking violin lessons. Musical minimalism, which defined the characteristic sound of his music, Hisaishi became interested while studying at the College of Music, where he entered in 1969 to study composer. He released his first album, Information, in 1982. In 1983, Isao Takahata recommended Hisaishi Hayao Miyazaki to write an accompanying album for the manga "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds." Miyazaki liked the work of the young musician so much that he invited him to write the music for the film "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds." His work on Nausicaa made Hisaishi famous. In gratitude, he worked on all subsequent Miyazaki films.

Hisaishi received a record number of times (four) from the Japan Film Academy for Best Film Score.

Hisaishi has released over 15 solo albums. In 2004, he led the formation within the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra - the so-called World Dream Orchestra, performing easy-to-listen classical and contemporary music, mainly in the summer months.
