Born on March 25, 1956 in the village of Susuman, Magadan Region.
Even in his youth, he realized that the stage is his vocation. Not enrolling in a theater school in Moscow, he returned to Riga, where his family lived after the rehabilitation of his father, and became a student of the philological faculty of the University of Riga. However, a year later he left for Moscow and entered the Variety and Circus School for the course of Roman Viktyuk. Then he worked at Mosconcert. In 1985 he graduated from GITIS with a degree in Variety Directing.
