People's Artist of the Soviet Russian Federation Vladimir Gotovtsev came to this world on January 8, 1885 in Russia, Moscow. In his youth, the future artist did not initially plan to become an art worker and therefore entered the law faculty of Moscow State University. Despite the fact that Gotovtsev received a law degree, he did not work in his specialty. As a result, the craving for the world of the theater won, and Vladimir applied in 1907 for the drama course of Alexei Adashev, which served as his ticket to the theater stage and to the world of cinema.

After completing the course in 1908, Gotovtsev was invited to join the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked for 16 years until the fall of 1924. Then for another 12 years he worked in the cast of the second Moscow Art Theater until 1936. In parallel with playing on the stage of the theater, Vladimir Gotovtsev, together with Konstantin Stanislavsky and Leopold Sulerzhitsky, created the first studio of the Moscow Art Theater, where he performed almost all the organizational work for the performances.

On the stage of the theater, the most successful roles were played by Vladimir Gotovtsev, such as Yasha in the Cherry Orchard, Alexey Fedotik in Three Sisters, Ivan Lomov in the Proposal, Sir Toby on the Twelfth Night, Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew, Admiral Belobrov in the Fleet Officer and many others.

The debut in cinematography took place in the film Kutuzov, directed by Vladimir Petrov in 1943. In this historical drama, the actor played General Bennigsen.
