An actor of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, also known for his works in Estonia and Germany, Vladimir Georgievich Gaidarov was born in Poltava in 1893 into the family of a successful merchant. A boy from six years old learns to play the violin, at eight he falls in love with the theater, in the third grade he becomes the organizer of a circle studying literature, and in the fifth grade he is fond of philosophy.

In 1912, after graduating from the gymnasium, Vladimir Gaidarov entered the philosophy department of Moscow University. In parallel, he becomes a free listener to the course of the Art Theater. Two years later, he becomes a full-fledged student of the Moscow Art Theater, and almost immediately he is attracted to performances.

In 1915 there were the first roles of Vladimir Gaidarov in the cinema. Small episodic works in films allowed the young artist to comprehend the wisdom of the acting profession, and his filmography begins to grow rapidly. Now he gets the main roles and the best filming partners, including the then star of cinema and theater, Olga Gzovskaya, who becomes Gaidarov's wife. The best works of that time, according to the artist himself, are the role of Vladimir in the film adaptation of Pushkin's Blizzard and the artist Arno in the film Iola.

In 1920, together with his wife, he went on tour to the Baltic States. From there they are invited to film in Germany. In the period 1922-1932, German films with the participation of Vladimir Gaidarov were released, where he played about 25 roles. He also organizes a film company in Berlin and directs the German-Estonian film Waves of Passion as a director.

In 1932 he and his wife return to their homeland. They live in Leningrad, give lectures and concerts, play in the Pushkin Theater. Gaidarov starred in several other Soviet films, including the Battle of Stalingrad, where he plays one of the most important roles in his life - Field Marshal Paulus.

The artist died in 1976 at the age of 83.
