Savage Garden is a melodic duo from Australia that became especially popular in the second half of the 1990s. The founders of the group are Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones. The history of the band dates back to 1993, when the music magazine Time Off announced a competition for the best vocalist for the band Red Edge, which included Daniel Jones. And when Hayes and Jones got tired of performing other people's songs, they left the band and created their own duet Savage Garden. As soon as the guys recorded their debut song I Want You in 1996, they caught up with popularity throughout Australia, and soon beyond its borders. After all, almost immediately after the release of the hit, a contract was signed with Columbia Records from the USA. And the group's second single, To the Moon and Back, became even more popular than the first. It was a sign that the guys were on the right track.
The group's debut album remained at the top of the Australian charts for 17 weeks, and the song To the Moon and Back became the most rotated on American radio stations. Nowadays, the composition does not lose its popularity and is displayed at the top lines when you enter a request such as listening to Savage Garden online. According to ARIA, the group's debut album received the title of "gold" and was awarded 10 awards. By the end of 1997, the fame of Savage Garden spread all over the world. In 1998, a large-scale world tour of the group took place, which ended with the release of the single All Around Me.
In November 1999, the second Savage Garden album, Affirmation, was released. Thanks to the hit I Knew I loved you, the album goes platinum.
In 2001 the group disbanded, but their debut album will forever remain one of the greatest contributions to the musical art of our time, it was certified 12 times platinum in Australia, in the USA - 6 times and in the UK - 2 times. No matter how many years Savage Garden has not sounded on the waves of radio stations or from the speakers of private devices, their work will always remain young, fresh and relevant. Now Darren Hayes is pursuing a solo career, Daniel Jones is producing young Australian music groups. Whatever the guys do, their life paths are inextricably linked with music.
