Born on March 8, 1944 in Moscow.
One of the leading representatives of art song in Russia. Together with Tatyana Nikitina he sang his own songs to the verses of Russian poets.
Graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov Moscow State University (1968) Physicist, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. He worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences and at the Institute of Biological Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
Back in the 1960s, Nikitin was actively involved in music, participated in amateur song performances, showing himself as a talented performer, guitarist and vocalist, as well as a music writer. Plays the piano, classical six-string and seven-string guitar with a special minor tuning.
Since 1962 he has been writing songs to the verses of Russian and foreign poets, such as D. Sukharev, E. Bagritsky, B. Pasternak, Y. Moritz, Y. Levitansky, G. Shpalikov, D. Samoilov, V. Shakespeare and others, and also to the verses of the graduates of the Physics Department of Moscow State University S. Krylov, V. Milyaev and Gennady Ivanov. The first song, "On the road" ("Night and snow, and the path is far ...") on the verses of I. Utkin appeared in Nikitin in December 1962.
In the repertoire of Sergei Nikitin there are two songs on his own verses. Sergei Yakovlevich was the organizer and leader of the quartet of physicists at Moscow State University (1963-1967), as well as the quintet of physicists (1968-1977), in which Tatyana Khashimovna Sadykova sang, who later became the composer's wife and his stage partner. In 1978 Sergei Nikitin met with the French musician and conductor Paul Mauriat. After this meeting, Paul Mauriat wrote an instrumental version of the song "To the Music of Vivaldi" by Viktor Berkovsky and Sergei Nikitin.
In 1987-1995. Sergey Nikitin worked as the head of the musical section of the Moscow Tabakerka Theater under the direction of Oleg Tabakov, and collaborated with other theaters. In addition, the composer works a lot in film, radio and television. Member of the Union of Theater Workers of the Russian Federation.
