Born on April 10, 1939 in the village of Anatolyevka, Odessa region. Graduated from the Odessa Theater and Art School (1960), the acting department of VGIK (1965, workshop of Yu. Genika and V. Shishkov), the directing department of the film faculty of the I.K. Karpenko-Kary (1971). He made his film debut as an actor (in the episode "On Seven Winds").
Since 1971 - director of the Kiev Film Studio named after A.P. Dovzhenko. Teacher of the Karpenko-Kary KSITI.
