Born July 17, 1965 - Spanish actor, director, screenwriter, producer.

Studied at the Faculty of Arts of the Coplutense University of Madrid.

In 1989, Segura made his first short film with a budget of 7,000 pesetas (about $ 50). In 1992, he directed a professional short film called Evilio, and in 1993, a small film, Confused. Santiago Segura not only directed these films, but also played the main role in them.

In 1993, director Alex de la Iglesia drew attention to Santiago Segura and invited him to play a small role in the film Operation Mutants. Two years later, the actor played one of the main roles in the comedy horror film by the same director "Day of the Beast".

In 1998, Santiago Segura created his first international hit, the crime comedy Torrente, the Foolish Hand of the Law, in which he starred. The film about the adventures of the former police officer, charismatic Jose Luis Torrente was an incredible success. The third film about Torrent, The Defender, was released in 2005. The advertising campaign of the film was built around the slogan "Torrente Acabado" ("Torrente is over"), which parodied the famous "Batman begins".

Santiago Segura was going to say goodbye to his most famous hero once and for all, but five years later changed his mind. The film Torrent 4 is currently in production.

Through the Torrent franchise, Segura has attracted the attention of Hollywood producers. He has appeared in American films such as Hellboy: A Hero From Hell, Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London and Blade 2.

In the early 2000s, Santiago Segura started his own production company called Amiguetes Entertainment. One of the most notable projects of the company was the comedy "Red Average" with the participation of Nicholas Lopez.

In 2010, Segura starred in Alex de la Iglesia's tragicomedy A Sad Ballad for the Trumpet, which is set during the Civil War. The actor played the role of a circus clown, whose psyche gives a deep crack during the war and finally shatters to shreds in peacetime, when the hero meets love. Sorrowful Ballad for the Trumpet received a record number of Goya nominations and was also nominated for the Golden Lion Venice Film Festival.
