Born April 4, 1938 in Riga in the family of the sculptor Emil Melderis and the artist Hermina Melderite. Brothers - architect Gederts Melderis and artist Imants Melderis, sister - music teacher Maya Berzina. Graduated from the 4th Riga secondary school (1958) and the acting studio of the State Art Theater named after J. Rainis (1962). He worked as an actor in the Liepaja State Theater (1962-1971) and (1974-1978), the State Art Theater. J. Rainis (1972-1974). From the beginning of the eighties he taught acting at the School of Practical Aesthetics of the Vidzeme suburb of the city of Riga.
