Born January 19, 1964, Hocotenango is a Guatemalan singer, former basketball player and school teacher. One of the most successful Latin American singers who has sold over 20 million albums. It is often called Animal Nocturno (Nocturnal animal). The nickname solidified following the success of his fourth self-titled album. Archona's style ranges from ballads to Latin pop, rock, pop rock, Cuban music, and more recently the chapel, a mixture of Tex-Mex music and Norteno, other African American and Latin American tunes. Archona is noted for his lyrical style. In his songs, he often raises topics such as love, homosexuality, kidnapping, rape, racism, emigration.
