Nikolai Fedorovich Badiev was born on December 25, 1922 in St. Petersburg. The actor's father worked as a turner at the Putilov plant. At the age of 16, still very young Nikolai Fedorovich initially followed in the footsteps of his father, but the beginning of the Great Patriotic War changed all Badiev's plans. On June 29, 1941, he volunteered for the front, where he was enlisted in the 128th rifle company and rose to the rank of platoon commander.
