He graduated from the Leningrad school number 1, where, together with Mikhail Borzykin (later the leader of the rock group TV), he created a school ensemble.
In 1979 he entered LGITMiK, on ??the course of Arkady Katsman and Lev Dodin, where he met Maxim Leonidov and Nikolai Fomenko.
He took part in the cult performance "Ah, these stars!", Where he played the roles of Demis Roussos and Andrei Makarevich. In 1982, together with Leonidov and Fomenko, he created the "Secret" beat quartet, but left the group even before its "takeoff", giving way to Andrei Zabludovsky.
