The Offspring was formed in Orange County, California in 1984, when the stage was filled with similar music. Infected with the enthusiasm of the local Social Distortion collective, Brian "Dexter" Holland (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Greg Krisel (bass guitar) formed their own band. A year later they were joined by Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman (rhythm guitar) and James Lilja (drums), who was replaced by Ron Welty. Then they called themselves Manic Subsidal.

In the spring of 1989 the band released 3,000 copies of their self-titled debut album via Nemesis Records. The work did not bring much popularity, but the guys went on a tour in support of him for 1.5 months. In 1991 a mini-compilation Baghdad was released, thanks to which the guys signed a contract with Epitaph Records. In October 1992, the next brainchild of rockers Ignition appeared. Nobody expected such success. The album sold in a million copies, although only 25 fans came to its presentation. This was the first step towards the long-awaited popularity.

Already in 1994 the Smash disc was released, the composition Come Out And Play from which reached the top five on the Billboard 200. It was their finest hour. After making decent money selling 12 million copies, Holland and Chrisel set up their own recording studio, Nitro Records, but then recorded themselves at Columbia Records.

After a two-year hiatus, the band put together in 1997 material for the next album Ixnay On The Hombre, which was a kind of experiment and did not add popularity to the guys.

The next work Americana, released in 1998, created a real stir in the world of music, and the song Pretty Fly took the first places in the charts for weeks. In 1999, a movie with The Offspring Killer Hand was released, where the band recorded a track, and Dexter's hero was killed on stage. 2000 was marked by the release of the album Conspiracy of One, which did not have the success of the previous work, but went platinum in America.

Ron Welty left the team in 2003. Splinter's new album has already been recorded with drummer Adam "Atom" Willard. In the following years the band toured Europe and Asia, and the new disc Rise and fall, rage and grace was released only in 2008 with Pete Parada (drums). Four years later, the latest collection, Days Go By, appeared on the shelves of record stores.

For The Offspring 2015 was marked by the single Coming for you, which reached # 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
