Ian Colehouen Wilson, better known by his pseudonym Richard Wilson, was born in Greenock Scotland. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps. At the age of 27, he became interested in acting and studied at RADA. In 1994 he was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
