Born on January 17, 1969 in the south of Sweden in the town of Okarp, near Malmo. In his youth, he was fond of poetry: by the age of 23, he managed to release five collections of poetry. Muddisson studied his future profession at the directing department of the Dramatiska Institutet. Here he also created his first short films. Moodysson's full-length debut was the film Show Me Love (1998), which tells about the first love experiences of two schoolgirls from a small provincial town. The film was a great success with critics and audiences all over the world and won numerous awards (including the Teddy Prize of the Berlin Film Festival). Moodysson himself received the Swedish National Film Award "Golden Beetle" for Best Director. At the box office, the film even rivaled the blockbuster Titanic .
Moodysson's second work, the Comedy Together (2000), also had a huge audience success. A touching story about the life of a Swedish hippie commune becomes one of the top box-office leaders in Sweden. Moodysson surprised many with his next film. The film Lilya Forever (2002), which tells about the misadventures of a young Russian girl, was filmed in the Russian language in the territory of the former Soviet Union. The resulting film was completely devoid of the optimism that permeated the first two works of the director. Nevertheless, Moodysson was recognized for the second time in Sweden as the best director of the year. In 2004, Moodysson's picture A Hole in My Heart was released, which marked the director's turn towards avant-garde cinema. In the center of the plot of this provocative experimental tape is the shooting of an amateur porn film. To convey the intolerable atmosphere in which his characters exist, Moodysson used various noises and video inserts (including fragments of a surgical operation on female genitals). Few liked the radicalism of Holes in My Heart: for this picture Moodysson was subjected to numerous attacks from critics and viewers. The next work of the director was the film "Container" (2006). Moodysson continued his experiments in radical avant-garde cinema. In 2007, the director returned to genre cinema, starting filming the drama Mammoth. The lead role is played by Mexican actor Gael Garcia Bernal. The work on the film took place in Southeast Asia, and the film premiered in 2009.
Lucas Moudisson is a socialist, feminist and at the same time a believing Christian.
