Born in 1947 in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, Anderson was educated at Prince Edward School. His father was in command of the Rhodesian army.
He has appeared on the US television series, Criminal Minds, and the ongoing Final Forces show as Colonel Aiden Dempsey. His numerous television appearances include Fall Eagles, Z-Cars, The Sweeney. Campion, House of Cards, Oliver's Travels, Every Woman Knows The Secret and Holby Town.
He is an associate member of RADA and the father of actor Joe Anderson and Max Anderson 2006 and 2011 Streetboard World Champion.
